Caps vs. Ning 11-10-2007 Preview

Washington Capitals (6-10; 13 points) vs. Tama Bay Lightning (7-9; 15 points):
Caps Game #17, Home Game #7, NHL Game #239

Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. 7:07 pm. Washington TV: Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic. Radio: WWWT 1500-AM, 107.7-FM. Tampa TV: None. Radio: WDAE 620-AM. NHL Center Ice: Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic feed.

Tonight the Caps look to win back-to-back game for the first time since they ripped off three in a row to start the season. They're facing a Ning team that they beat at home 5-3 back on October 24th. The Ning finally figured out how to win on the road when they beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 Thursday night for their first road win this season and second win in a row overall.

St. Petersberg Times: figuring out the system, Boyle still out, up next. Tampa Tribune: strong marriage, Boyle still out, Craig might be back though.

What Do I Expect Tonight?:

To paraphrase one of my favorite managers, Lou Brown, "alright, we won our last game, we win tonight that's two in a row. If we win our next game too that's three in a row and that's called a 'winning streak.' It has happened in the past." Ok, I don't mean to be a nattering nabob of negativism (oh, who am I kidding?) put the last time the Caps pulled off an impressive victory, they proceeded to lose their next four games, scoring three goals in the process and being shut out twice. "Over confidence" should not be in this team's vocabulary but you never know. The Caps are facing an improving Ning team with a hot Johan Holmqvist in goal. There shouldn't be any doubt that he'll face the Caps tonight and I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the offense head right back into a slump.

Caps Nut Official Prediction:

Caps 1
Ning 4
Winner by St. Louis

(6-10 on the season)
