False Alarm Folks

Originally TSN.ca was translating from their French version, RDS.ca, that A.O. had agreed to a six year, $54 million contract extension with the Caps. However TSN.ca now says that negotiations are ongoing and nothing has been finalized yet.

Had it gone down like RDS had initially reported, it would have been a nice story to trumpet at tonight's Season Ticket Holder Party. But let's all at least admit that this is a much better story to discuss than the "Please Come Play Here A.O." stories and the infantile rumor mongering from, well, infantile rumor mongers. Furthermore, it isn't like TSN/ RDS to get a story wrong like this so something has to be afoot. Whether it is good or bad is up in the air because General Manager George McPhee does a good job of keeping these things on the down low.

Though for those who enjoy bashing Caps management, nothing that gets done in this department will ever satisfy them, but we do know that good faith progress is being made.
