Today's Spin:
We felt we had to lump Stan Fischler's piece in with Larry Brooks' simply because it was something we would expect out of Larry, or a Message Board poster, not a hockey writer you would take seriously. Because after reading that, we seriously wondered just how the Capitals were able to amass 108 points this season. We also find it funny that The Maven think Sean Avery can talk his way into A.O.'s head. If A.O. has proven anything in his four years in the NHL is that he isn't easily thrown off his game. And on the off chance that A.O. does get thrown off his game, there's still Alexander "Slappy" Semin and Mike "BEAM ME UP" Green to contend with. The Flyers tried to physically intimidate Slappy last year, it only resulted in Slappy registering 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points, second on the team behind A.O.
But otherwise, we're happy that we don't have to wait until Friday for the series to start like we did last year. We also see that everybody, except for the Penguin Scum-Flyers series, has a two day break built into the schedule somewhere, ours comes early which is nice too.
Scheduled to appear here later today, a little note about what the overall standings mean.
