Caps @ Ning 4-9-2009 Wrap Up

The Local Yokels:

(Com)Post. Times. Caps.com.

The Neutral Observers:

NHL.com AP Wire.

The Other Side:

St. Petersburg Times: muted celebration, rank amateur. Tampa Tribune: record broken, mark set, Koharski gone. Ning.com.

Final Thoughts:

We happen to think that not so much because of the longer season but because of the Gary Bettman Point Inflation that setting records for wins and points in a season is slightly diminished. The 1985-1986 Caps team should have won the Stanley Cup and would have if Bryan Murray hadn't been the coach. While the 2008-2009 Caps are undoubtedly a good hockey team, we don't think they should/will win the Cup and would take the 85-86 team (with a better coach) over this squad. Finally, while today is a day of fasting and abstinence, we will have a doughnut tomorrow in honor of Don Koharski finally getting off the ice.

81 down, 1 to go.
