Final Thoughts:

I have to agree with Head Coach Glen Hanlon that it was better for the Caps to lose this game 5-0 instead of 1-0 or 2-0 giving up an empty net goal to ice the game. I've said it often enough this season that the Caps are better than they were last season but that does not mean that they are good enough to make the playoffs. I've also said often enough this season that the Caps tend to take periods off during the game and last night is a example of that tendency coming back to haunt them. You're almost tempted to say that last night happens from time-to-time and that you just fuggetaboutit and move on. But that's what playoff teams do; the Caps are not a playoff team. 15 down 67 to go.
