Scheduling Status Quo
After numerous complaints about the NHL's current scheduling format, the NHL's GM's met yesterday and did nothing about it.
The article is insightful because of the Buffalo GM, Darcy Reiger, quote:
"Let's face it, we get on a plane at 3 p.m. the day before a game and we get home at 1 a.m. the night of the game. I'll admit, that's a nice advantage. ... We do like it like as it is."
So not only are the travel costs for Eastern teams lower, they also get more rest. Basically we've got a system that benefits half the teams and doesn't benefit the other half. How long do you think it will take before this "imbalance" is corrected?
