Final Thoughts:
The Power of the Z-Men came through...
Dainius Zubrus and Richard Zednik came through with two goals a piece. For Zed, it was good to see as he's been a bit of a punching bag for Caps fans so far this season. He didn't start playing well until Matt "Princess" Pettinger started getting closer to coming off of the IR. Zed's play slipped again because he wasn't scoring but now with two goals, Zed looks to be getting back into form. And this doesn't come too soon either because has anybody noticed Alexander Semin recently? I can't say that I have. If Zed and Semin can trade off on hot and cold streaks, I won't complain too much.
This was the type of game that the Caps needed to play on the road. It wasn't nail biting and exciting until the clock started to wind down. The Caps had a solid effort for 60 minutes and there were only a few moments of disarray. But once the Flames got back within one goal in the third on Iginla's breakaway, the Caps went into lockdown mode and got the win, splitting the four game road trip and getting 5 out of 8 points. So let's hope that the Caps have learned how to win on the road with this trip. While they don't have another 4 game road trip until around the All-Star break in January, they will have to play better on the road if they are serious about contending for a playoff spot. 11 down 71 to go.
