Sunday Smorgasbord 1-13
- Yeah, I'm not sold on Tony Romo either. That interception he threw at the end of the game today was entirely avoidable considering that his receiver was covered step for step. Though I have to say that intentional grounding penalty was all kinds of bogus. How the NFL can take a simple game and make it complicated beyond all belief is amazing to me.
- The search is on for the next Head Coach of the Washington Redskins and thanks to the "Diversify or Die" crowd, it is a wide open process despite the overwhelming support of the players for Gregg Williams. I don't think Williams would be a bad choice, especially after working with Gibbs for four years. I do know however that under no circumstances do I want Bill "The Jaw" Cowher or Brian Billick taking over as Head Coach. Cowher always was and always will be joke of a coach. Yeah he won a Super Bowl but it took him well over a decade to get it done and that game was so badly jobbed that even the WWE was embarrassed. Billick is also vastly overrated though that is in direction proportion to his ego. He and Dan Snyder will never get along. And to answer your question Mark Maske, because Redskins fans hated him the first time around despite posting an 8-8 record in his only season. I remember some fans telling me they'd cancel their season tickets because they found his offense so boring. And forget the fact that they guy could "never win the big game," the fans also hated the fact that he insisted on wearing the burgundy jerseys at home.
- And speaking of brutal, that 67-66 Maryland loss at Virginia Tech was brutal to watch. As the losses to Ohio and American already illustrated, it is going to be a long year in College Park for the Men's Basketball team.
- Not much else on my mind right now other than this week the Caps play three more home games against the Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, and Florida Panthers on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday respectively will three games starting at 7 pm. The Terp Men host Wake Forest on Tuesday night at 9 pm and then pay a visit to North Carolina on Saturday at 3:30 pm on ABC. The Terp Women host Dook tomorrow night at 7 pm on ESPN2 and then head to Virginia on Friday night before hosting Georgia Tech next Sunday at 2 pm.
- As always, please send all comments, corrections, criticisms, questions, suggestions, and Papal Audience requests to "capsnut" over at gmail dot com.
