Final Thoughts:

I was worried last night that the Caps would come out strong and play a good hockey game but still end up losing. From what I saw in the first period, that is exactly what happened. I said after a loss to the Canes back in November that if the Caps are going to make the playoffs, this is the type of team that they would be playing. I don't know what good it would do for the Caps to make the playoffs this season and get swept in four games. 49 down, 33 to go.

Tonight the Caps and the Canes have thier return bout after splitting the last two games these two teams played in Carolina. This will be the third time in ten days that the Caps and Canes will have met and the fourth time in the last five games overall for both teams.

What Do I Expect Tonight?:

If the last two meetings between these teams has shown us anything, the outcome of tonight's game will have more to do with what type of effort the Canes put out than what type of effort the Caps come up with. Certainly, the Caps are not going to win tonight if they don't play a good all around hockey game, but even if they do, Carolina has too much talent for the Caps to overcome. In order to salvage a split of this home-and-home and to make a move towards a playoff run, the Caps have to hope the Canes left their game in Raleigh last night.
