Caps vs. Canes 11-17-2006 Preview

Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. 7:05 pm. Washington TV: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic. Radio: WTNT 570-AM. Carolina TV: Fox Sportnet South. Radio: Y102.9-FM. NHL Center Ice: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic feed.
After Wednesday night's gimmick loss to the Bruins, the Caps start a back-to-back game set tonight at home with the Hurricanes, just a little over one week after the Canes provided a 5-0 reality check to the Caps in Raleigh. Since then the Canes have also won two out of three games, most recently a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Wednesday night in Raleigh.

What Do I Expect Tonight?:
Another scintillating Southeast Showdown baby! After last week's egg laying in Raleigh I would expect the Caps to come out tonight with something to prove. Both teams have been playing on the same days since the last meeting and both are playing again tomorrow night, so neither team has an edge when it comes to rest. Carolina seems to have shaken off their Stanley Cup hangover and this is the time of year where the contenders start to separate from the pretenders. The Caps will need to come up with a really good hockey game tonight in order to win.
