Final Thoughts:

Here's the bottom line on making the playoffs; Carolina or Boston will have to lose at least three games in regulation in their final five games and six games respectively AND the Caps will have to run the table; or Philadelphia will have to lose two of their five remaining games in regulation AND the Caps will have to run the table. Even if we were all 100% confident that the Caps could end the season on a seven game winning streak, how confident are you that the Canes, Bruins, and Flyers are going to go into the mini slump they'd have to go into in order for us to sneak on by? Throw in the Bettman Point and the math gets even harder but the bottom line is, the Caps are going to run out of time.
