Caps @ Devils 12-7-2007 Preview

Washington Capitals (9-18; 20 points) @ New Jersey Devils (15-12; 32 points):
Caps Game #28, Road Game #15, NHL Game #412

Prudential Center, Newark, NJ. 7:07 pm. Washington TV: Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic Plus. Radio: WWWT 1500-AM, 107.7-FM. New Jersey TV: Fox SportsNet New York 2. Radio: WFAN 660-AM. NHL Center Ice: Fox SportsNet New York 2 feed.

Sorry about that operational pause there folks, this ended up being a busier week than I thought it would be. Tonight the Caps are back in action after a much needed five day break. Tonight they're in the brand new Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey for the first time to face the Devils. The Devils are on a roll to say the least having won eight in a row including Wednesday night's comeback 4-3 win over Boston in overtime on home ice.

What Do I Expect Tonight?:

So much for rest and relaxation, add Michael Nylander to the walking wounded list as Bruce Boudreau must have really been cracking the whip this week, even once having two practices in one day this week. The Caps crack media staff tells me that the Caps have their last three times they've played in a building for the first time. However, something tells that that tonight won't be the fourth. The Devils are on a roll and the Caps will need almost a perfect game from Olie Kolzig and the defense to win tonight simply because Martin Brodeur is so tough to beat in the first place and in case you haven't noticed this season, we've been having problems scoring goals. So throw in some rink rust to with the mounting injuries, the appearance of Mullet Melrose in the building, and the Devils honoring Scott Stevens' induction into the Hall of Fame tonight and I think the Caps woes will continue.

Caps Nut Official Prediction:

Caps 0
Devils 2
Winner by Zubrus

(16-11 on the season)
