Final Thoughts:
While I admire and appreciate the passion of A.O. and Olie Kolzig and I am glad that they are tired of losing and want to win, open dissention in the ranks is NEVER a good a thing. While some of my fellow Caps bloggers and of course the idiots of Darwin's Waiting Room are in approval of this; this is a bad, bad thing. Why? Well for starters it tells me that the team has given up on this season and will be giving up on next season too unless "they get the players they need to compete." We've been down this road before and people weren't very happy with the pre-lockout Washington Capitals because of it. There is a very good but very young core of players here in Washington and we've seen the flashes of brilliance that they are capable of. Things have clearly not been going their way recently and that's just a part of life. These guys are going to have to take their lumps and keep plugging away because a Pavel Datsyuk or a Chris Gomez or a Sheldon Souray aren't going to bring about a maturity by themselves or in some combination of the three overnight. I told a story last week and as luck would have it, I have a memo for A.O. and Kolzig this week. 70 down, 12 to go.
