Final Thoughts:

When I look back on this home-and-home sweep of the Eastern Conference leading Ottawa Senators, I can't help but to think of the post game comments by Joe Gibbs on Sunday night. Gibbs gave credit to the humility that had taken over the team since the murder of Sean Taylor as the reason why they ended their season strong and made the playoffs. Entering Saturday night's game, the Caps were 21 points behind in the Senators and nobody had any real reason to expect the Caps to sweep the home-and-home the way they did. Now the Caps play four games against four teams ahead of them in the standings. As of right now Montreal has the biggest lead on the Caps and are 8 points ahead. The Caps could certainly use some humility themselves because after beating the Eastern Conference leaders by a combined 14-8, it is certainly fair to expect them to beat teams currently on the edge of the playoffs like Boston and Philadelphia.

40 down, 42 to go.
