Impasse and heading out of town.
A few weeks ago much was made about the Penguin Scum accepting season ticket deposits in Pittsburgh for the 2007-2008 season. Now that info has been stripped from the website.
Now are you ready for an interesting dose of irony? Most Penguin Scum fans like to relay the fantasy that when the Penguin Scum won their first Stanley Cup, their defeat of the Minnesota North Stars was so complete, that the team was destroyed and moved to San Jose.
Well, it didn't exactly work like that. The Gund brothers wanted to move the North Stars to San Jose but then NHL President John Zigler would not allow the team to be moved and the Gund brothers were awarded an expansion team and a portion of the players in the North Stars system as compensation. The North Stars then participated with the Sharks in the expansion draft. It had nothing to do with the Penguin Scum beating them for the Cup that year. I still have to set the record straight with my brother-in-law and his family from Pittsburgh.
But how funny would it be if the Canadian Diving Team Captain, Secondary Assist Cindy Crosby, was able to lead the Penguin Scum to the Cup Finals before losing to somebody from the West right before the team relocated? (The Minnesota Wild are in a playoff spot out West BTW)
However, be prepared to hear what a great hockey city Pittsburgh is and should the Penguin Scum move, look for expansion talk to grow louder and louder.
