Caps vs. Kings 2-8-2007 Preview

Washington Capitals (22-33; 52 points; 4th Southeast Division, 13th Eastern Conference, 24th Overall) vs. Los Angeles Kings (18-38; 44 points; 5th Pacific Division, 15th Western Conference, 29th Overall):
Caps Game #56, Home Game #29, NHL Game #821

Verizon Center, Washington, D.C. 7:05 pm. Washington TV: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic. Radio: WTEM 980-AM. Los Angeles TV: Fox Sportsnet West. Radio: KTLK 1150-AM. NHL Center Ice feed: Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic feed. (However for those in the 702 area code, it will be blacked out as you are forced to watch the L.A. feed.)

Tonight the Caps get another chance to beat a team they should beat on home ice. The L.A. Kings are the worst team in the Western Conference, they've lost 11 of their past 13 games including a 3-2 gimmick loss to the Ning on Tuesday night.

Open Source Intelligence:

Nothing yet. It could be the west coast being slow but the L.A. Times over the summer announced that they would no longer send their hockey beat writers on the road to cover the team. But this Washington Times article is about an L.A. King.

What do I Expect Tonight?:

On their current swing through the Southeast Division, the Kings are 1-1 after scoring a touchdown in a shutout of the Panthers on Saturday night and have registered points in their last two road games. So what does this mean? Despite the Kings having the fewest road wins of any team in the NHL along with Calgary, this won't be a slam dunk for the Caps, but it shouldn't be a game where if the Caps play well, they'll end up losing.
